IMPACT INVESTING & BLENDED FINANCE ADVISORS

EDGAR STAFFORD
A UK and South African qualified lawyer with over 25 years of legal experience and currently practising as an attorney in South Africa. I hold a Master’s degree in Development Finance from the Stellenbosch Business School. My work sits at the intersection of law, finance and impact investing, advising businesses, funds and investors on legal, regulatory and commercial matters across Africa and the Middle East.
Over the past fifteen years, I have supported investment into businesses across a wide range of sectors, including education, agriculture, health, transport, retail, energy and mining. My experience spans both private practice (South Africa, the UK and the Cayman Islands) and in-house roles in Mauritius, with particular expertise in impact fund structuring, blended finance instruments, onshore and offshore vehicles, cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance across key African jurisdictions.
Based in Cape Town, I provide a strategic legal and structuring gateway into Africa. Through AfriLex, I work with fund managers, DFIs, NGOs and investors seeking to deploy capital in emerging markets by delivering pragmatic, impact-aligned legal solutions grounded in first-hand transaction experience and supported by a trusted network of legal and commercial partners.
